We are so excited about our new equipment! It's a matter of a couple more weeks, and it will be here!

There are so many new and wonderful things that are in store for java this year, and we are so excited to share!

Coffee Culture
If you didn’t already know, coffee education is VERY important to us. The seed to cup story is an amazing process, and so much more goes into producing a quality cup of coffee than one might think! This year, our focus is to provide you not only an amazing cup of coffee, but the information and education to tell the difference. We will be highlighting different areas from the coffee industry at the store, and here, our blog.

We are also looking forward to a new logo, new espresso machine, and we would like to start holding cuppings by the end of the year! (http://coffeegeek.com/guides/beginnercupping/why) So get excited!

 

BIG EARS FESTIVAL!

If you haven’t heard, The Big Ears Festival (http://www.bigearsfestival.com) will be held all over Downtown Knoxville and the Old City, February 6th-9th.  Bands and artists such as Antony and the Johnsons, Phillip Glass, and Dan Deacon are only a few of the many who are scheduled to perform.

Old City Java is excited to announce that they will be hosting the Ampyant (ambient) Café!
(no cover charge)

The Ampyant (ambient) Cafe will provide non-interruptive live ambient selections from The Suns Of Phere Morechestra, while festival goers relax, chat, and surf.   The Suns Of Phere Morechestra will record sections of their performances, which will be free and available to those with a jump drive or laptop.   Select willing festival goers will be interviewed throughout the Big Ears Festival and have sections of their interviews incorporated as loops to be included in ambient pieces.  After the festival, the best of the ambient pieces will be available for download on the Big Ears Website.

If you haven’t tried anything from Mag-Pies Bakery, well, you should! Congrats to the amazing crew down at Mag-Pies for whipping up some of the best cupcakes! Check out their write up in this month’s Rachel Ray Everyday magazine! (magpiescakes.com)

Old City Java will be hosting "Buy local, Buy handmade christmas sale! All type of goods from over 13 artist and crafters! Clothing, knitted items, art, stationery, and so much more! something for everyone!

in addition to the sale, two artists are displaying their work! Photography by Michael Murphy and paintings by David Pease.

To top it all off, the CHRISTMAS PARADE will be making its way down central ave, with marshmallow roasting with firemen!

It will be a great night! come on out!
